Janelle is available for live fashion illustrations in-person at events (festivals, dance competitions, corporate events, weddings, etc.). Inquire below if you want to arrange for custom pieces of art created live as a keepsake.
How do I get started?
Start by filling in the Fashion Illustration Inquiry Form or contact Janelle at: info@janelleknihnitski.com.
She will contact you to ask for any photos and to clarify your chosen options and the details of your order (make sure to check your junk folder).
Details example: In the photo you are wearing beige shoes but want red shoes instead.

Do you need a photo to create the fashion illustration?
Yes, a clear full body photo works best.
I only have an old photo that is not the best quality, will that work?
Yes, Janelle can do the fashion illustration with an old photo. She will just need to clarify the details with you to make sure it captures the costume/outfit correctly.
Is a fashion illustration a characterization portrait?
Please familiarize yourself with Janelle’s fashion illustration style and manage your expectations. This is not meant to be a characterization portrait and the fashion illustration may not look exactly like you but it will capture you and the details of the costume/outfit.
What is a fashion pose?
For illustrations it is a full-body front view stance. Janelle has a catalog of poses she uses for the fashion illustrations that help emphasize the garment and silhouette.
What is a custom pose?
Most commonly a specific dance move or pose. These are subject to an extra fee, ranging from $10-$20.
Do you illustrate the background from my photo reference?
No, the fashion illustration is done with a white background showcasing the subject.
How long does the process take?
The whole process will approximately take 5-10 business days with prompt replies. We do not follow up on our sent emails and the more changes that you wish to make the longer the process will take. If your order is time sensitive a rush fee can be applied to ensure it is completed on time.
Is pricing per person?
Yes pricing is per person. Example: if you want two people in a 5×7 fashion illustration it would be $60 per person = $120.
How do I pay?
Once the price is confirmed Janelle can send you an invoice to be paid online or we can use e-transfer. The buyer can choose which option works best for them.
How much is shipping?
The commission will be signed, wrapped carefully and shipped to you. The buyer is responsible for shipping fees:
Lettermail shipping, no tracking: $5
Package shipping, tracking included: starting at $20 (will vary depending on location)
*All fees based on Canada Post rates. We aim to package all artwork into one package to reduce multiple shipping fees.
What is the fashion illustration created on?
Mixed media (alcohol ink markers, acrylic paint and archival ink) illustrated on acid-free vellum-surfaced paper.
Can you do a fashion illustration from a video?
Yes, but this is not encouraged as it is harder to see the costume. If you take screenshots, Janelle will need to clarify the details with you to make sure it captures the costume/outfit correctly.
Can I request a change to the finished fashion illustration?
After the details have been confirmed for your fashion illustration no further changes will be allowed. A minor adjustment may be possible, please communicate the request to Janelle. (ex: the hair color is too light and you would like it to be darker).
Can I return my fashion illustration?
Due to the nature of custom fashion illustrations there are no refunds or exchanges. All fashion illustrations are final sale.
Do you do live fashion illustrations?
Yes, Janelle can do live fashion illustrations at in-person at events (festivals, dance competitions, corporate events, weddings, etc.). Inquire if you want to arrange for custom pieces of art created live as a keepsake.
